Colorado Truck Accident

A man was killed Monday morning after the passenger van he was driving collided with a milk delivery truck in the early morning hours.

Boulder Police say the crash occurred at 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of 28th Street and Jay Road. Police believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

Authorities say the driver was pinned behind the wheel of his passenger van and was extricated by the Boulder Fire Department, before being pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later. His name was not immediately released.

Police say a passenger in the van, Gerardo Ochoa-Lopez, also suffered serious, possibly life-threatening injuries in the crash and was hospitalized.

The driver of the milk delivery truck, Bryan Heltsley, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Authorities had to close the intersection for about three hours to investigate and clean up after several crates and cartons of milk spilled.
