A Veneta woman is dead after what appears to be a freak accident.

Deputies said it looks like a County Transfer recycle truck ran over 62 year old Anna Baker.

It happened Monday morning on Forest Court in Veneta.

A neighbor told investigators he was on his way to the store when he noticed something lying in the road. At first he thought it was a pile of rags, but as he got closer he realized it was Baker, who was still alive.

She died shortly after paramedics arrived.

Baker had been known to come out and talk with garbage employees regularly.

“They do say she frequently comes out and says hi and visits and chats with them,” said Lieutenant Byron Trapp.

County Transfer is working with investigators.
