I-85 Tractor Trailer Wreck in Durham, NC

Durham, N.C. — Southbound Interstate 85 was closed most of the day Friday as crews worked to clear debris from a morning tractor-trailer accident.

The wreck occurred near the I-85 interchange at East Club Boulevard in Durham before 9 a.m. when a truck went off the right side of the road. The rig's cab ended up on the highway shoulder, while the trailer was part way down an embankment.

Some fuel spilled on the shoulder and in the right lane of the highway.

Drivers were forced to exit I-85 at Glenn School Road or Red Mill Road.

Authorities said the highway was closed until about 4:30 p.m.
