Tractor Trailer Accident
Winchester, MA - State police said the investigation into the death of a Winchester man who was struck by a tractor-trailer in Woburn on Sept. 1 would not be completed anytime soon.
According to David Procopio, a state police spokesman, it may be “a few weeks” until the results of the investigation are made public.
According to a state police press release, 77-year-old John F. Herlihy of Winchester was killed at approximately 5:30 a.m. Sept. 1 when he stepped into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer on southbound Route 128 near Route 38 in Woburn.
Police have not suggested the incident was anything but accidental.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:47 a.m.
The 2003 Mack tractor-trailer was driven by Moses K. Yahaya, 57, of Jersey City, N.J., in the right lane, according to a preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Keefe.
Procopio said the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction team is still conducting its investigation, after which point it will forward its conclusion on to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.
Calls made to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section have not been returned.
Herlihy, a 42-year Winchester resident, was a member of the Winchester Country Club and an active member in St. Mary’s Church.
