Semi Truck Accidents Clog Roads

Utah Truck Accident

Three accidents involving semi tractor-trailers hampered commuters Thursday morning.

About 7:45 a.m., an eastbound semi hauling gravel rolled over as it tried to turn from State Road 201 onto 8400 West, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden. The truck was going too fast and it tipped, hitting a westbound tanker truck and another car behind it. The tanker was empty and no one was injured in the accident. State road 201 had been reopened by 8:45 a.m., but 8400 West remained closed to clean up the scene.

Meanwhile, a second accident briefly closed northbound Interstate 15 at about 7:20 a.m. A semi rear-ended a Jeep, which then rear-ended Utah Department of Transportation pickup truck. Authorities closed the road near 2700 South for more than an hour to clean up the accident and transport the people inside the vehicles to the hospital, Roden said. One person was taken to an area hospital with minor injures. The far right-hand lane remained closed at about 8:45 a.m., but the other lanes had opened.

And an early-morning rollover on Interstate 84 closed the eastbound lanes at the mouth of Weber Canyon. A semi carrying apples and onions rolled over at about 1 a.m., and the eastbound lanes remained closed at about 8:45 a.m., Roden said. Only minor injuries were reported.
