Semi Truck Driver Injured In Accident

A Pennsylvania man was flown by medical helicopter to Akron-General Hospital Wednesday after his 2008 freightliner semi struck an embankment.

Stanley Thompson, 61, was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 when he drove off the side of the road. Thompson crossed the median over the eastbound lanes on U.S. 30 and struck the embankment.

Thompson was removed from the truck with the jaws-of-life and then flown by medical helicopter to Akron-General Hospital.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
