Semi-Truck Accident Kills Man on I-25
Denver, Colorado Truck Accident
DENVER -- A 19-year-old man from Colorado Springs died after the car he was riding in collided with a semi-truck Monday.
Police said the semi-truck had pulled over just north of the Bijou Street exit because of mechanical problems.
A red sedan driven by Dezirae Shier-Gill, 19, drifted onto the shoulder of the road and collided with the left side of the semi-truck, police said.
Detectives believe Shier-Gill was talking with her boyfriend, Wade Lehman, and became distracted.
The collision killed Lehman, police said. Dezirae Shier-Gill, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck, Lawrence Molina, 48, from Corning Calif., was not injured.
Police said I-25 was closed from noon until 2:40 p.m. while police investigated the collision.
Shier-Gill was served a traffic summons for misdemeanor careless driving resulting in death.
