Truck Driver Dies in Crash

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis Police say the driver of an 18-wheeler died after a crash in Southeast Memphis.

The accident happened around 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009, on East Shelby Drive and Pleasant Hill.

Traffic investigators say the driver ran off the road, struck a pole and wound up in a retention pond. The truck was the only vehicle involved.

The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died. Police have not released his age or name.
