Emergency crews with the Labelle Fannet Fire Department and the Department of Public Safety are clearing an accident involving an overturned box truck.

The truck overturned shortly after 8 a.m. Monday near the 843-mile marker (at Smith Road) just west of Beaumont. The truck lost some of its cargo and traffic was delayed while boxes were cleared from the roadway.

Officer Crystal Holmes with the Beaumont Police Department tells KBMT 12 news the box truck accident is one of 4 accidents emergency crews are clearing as of 9:15 a.m. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and expect long delays. Traffic both directions may need to be shut down at times.
