STONEWALL, La. — The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says a tank truck hauling salt water apparently failed to stop at a railroad crossing and hit a train, derailing one unloaded car.
Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Gray says the trucker — 35-year-old Samuel Leon Horton of St. Augustine, Texas — suffered minor injuries in the accident Friday morning.
Gray says the intersection west of Stonewall would be closed until the salt water was moved to another tanker and the damaged one removed.
He says some fuel spilled from the tractor-trailer's diesel tank.
Gray says Horton drove off the road in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid hitting the train.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says no charges or citations have been made, but deputies are still investigating the accident.
