RIVERSIDE — Dayton Power and Light Co. crews are working to restore power to the Airway Shopping Center after a garbage truck struck a pole on Woodman Drive late Friday morning, Oct. 23.

DP&L spokeswoman Mary Beth Weaver said about 35 business customers in the area of Woodman Drive and Airway Road were affected by the outage.

“A lot of them are the shops in the Airway Shopping Center,” she said.

Repair crews have been out there since before noon and need to replace the pole, she said.

Weaver said the garbage truck reportedly struck the pole near the Esther Price Candies and Gifts store, 194 Woodman Drive, after 11 a.m.
