U.S. 301 Crash Critically Injures 2

Tampa, Florida Truck Accident

THONOTOSASSA – Two people were critically injured in a dump truck accident that closed U.S. 301 for several hours Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in the southbound lane of 301 at Jackson Road just after 9:30 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Shelley Swafford was trying to pass other traffic, when a dump truck sideswiped her car, sending it spinning out of control. The crash then caused the dump truck to crash into a pickup truck.

The pickup truck’s driver, Mark Brozzetti, and Swafford were both flown to Tampa General Hospital where they are listed in critical condition. The dump truck driver suffered minor injuries.

FHP says charges are pending.
