Minnesota Man Escapes Truck vs. Train Accident in Buffalo County

A Minnesota man escapes with minor injuries after his semi is hit by a train in Buffalo County early Wednesday.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened just before 2:15 am at the Prairie Moon Road crossing in the town of Milton.

According to deputies, John Arkle from Minnesota City was on his way from Winona to La Crosse Milling in Cochrane. Arkle lost control of his semi on a snow-covered road and the truck became stuck on the railroad tracks.

Arkle told deputies he got out of the semi when he saw the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train coming down the tracks.

Arkle says when the train hit his semi, he was hit by debris from the crash, and received minor injuries.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department says citations are pending against Arkle.
